Ok another thing I don’t understand about otherkin is when they compare themselves to transsexuality
Like
There is scientific proof that transsexuals have the brain of the gender they identify with as opposed to their biological sex, as in the genitalia they were born with
But no humans are born with the fucking brain of a homestuck troll or a faerie from god knows what universe or even a motherfucking goose.
STOP.
YAY THE BraiN SCAN ARGuMenT!
Allow me to explain to you why it is fucking bullshit and in using it to invalidate otherkin you are also invalidating tons of trans* people and being a total dickwad!
(yeah I haven’t slept, not gonna be friendly here)First; Binary trans* people are not the only kind. I am a non-binary Trans* individual. I do not identify with male or female. Now, i have not had my brain scanned, so i can’t confirm anything, but please feel free to speculate on what my brain would look like. What if it looked like a usually ’female’ brain? Oh dear, am I suddenly not Trans* any more?! My experiences and my dysphoria and my identity, a strictly non-physical thing I must mention, are all worthless because I have a female brain!
Oh wait. That’s not how it works.
Transgender-ism(?) by it’s very nature, is about having a non-physical identity that doesn’t match the physical body or what the world perceives about it.
Saying that someone is not trans* unless they have the brain of the ‘opposite’ gender, is completely ignoring the fact that IDEnTITY Is NonPhYSiCAl
If a FtM transgender man was to get scanned and told they had a ‘female’ brain, they are still trans*. They are still a man. Their experiences are valid and that of a man. Their identity has not changed.
~*Identity is nonphysical*~
Do I need to print this out or put it on a t-shirt for people to get this?I do not need a brain scan proving I’m trans*. I do not need a brain scan proving I’m otherkin. I do not need any proof for my identity and it is not my job to validate it. My identity, and everyone else’s are valid so long as that is honestly how they feel. I feel I am nonbinary. I feel I am a sphinx. And so that is my identity. And you had damn well better accept that.
If you use this argument, you are not supporting trans* people. You are furthering the idea that we are only what our bodies say we are, and that goes right against the spirit of transgenderism. And is a big slap in the face to people like me.
I would like to ask you, as a trans* person, as a sphinx, as a being who demands some respect, to kindly STOP and Shut The Fuck Up.
Thankies muchly.
EDIT: Forgot to mention. Most otherkin who compare themselves to trans* people are trans* themselves and are comparing their own experiences with each identity.

: OH LOOK OUT I'M ABOUT TO HAVE OPINIONS!
okay so, re: people flashing their genitals and chests all over the ftm tag, or the mtf tag, or the transgender tag, or whatever tag it happens to be that isn’t a pornographic one and/or that respective secondary sex characteristic.
It is not body policing to…

Hey you.: theotheropinion: imnadroj: theotheropinion: I have mixed feelings...
I have mixed feelings about guys who change their name over and over. If you are always unsure about something as simple as a name and you need to frequently change it, how are you so confident about what your gender identity is?
I…
i think this is looking too hard for reasons to suspect trans people of not really being trans, honestly. over a couple years, i probably considered 7 or 8 names seriously enough to give them a test run online and with some close friends. it’s a big decision, the final name is probably what you’ll be called for the rest of your life. that’s worth thinking about.

If your tumblr name is “female name”to”male name”, I automatically don’t take you seriously.

When people differentiate/exclude ‘trans’ from ‘girls and boys.’
IDK what you mean. Trans is just a modifier.
when people say “boys, girls and trans people” or shit like that and think they’re being inclusive
NO.

I cannot say this enough. If you are comfortable with your body, or mostly comfortable with it and rarely experience discomfort with your biological sex, DON’T TRANSITION.

gonna let this speak for itself because omg
Holy fucking shit.
I knew this was how this shit happens.
People encouraging other people to be trans, haha.
Groan. But honestly, good on that other kid— for not listening to this bullshit and being comfortable with himself and his hobbies.
haha. Seriously? Trying to pressure someone else into being trans? If you didn’t understand the point from the beginning, you definitely should have gotten it by them telling you that they aren’t dysphoric.
Oh and I love how they basically admitted that being genderqueer or genderfluid aren’t being trans and that they don’t suffer from dysphoria.

^ note to people who INSIST that a man who likes wearing dresses CANNOT be a binary man, or people who INSIST that a woman who likes wearing shirts CANNOT be a binary woman
if your definition of being liberal, progressive and ~binary-smashing is to insist that a woman who is not ultra-feminine or a man who is not ultra-masculine is not actually a woman or is not actually a man, even if they are, you are definitely doing it wrong
Seriously Tumblr made my self-discovery so much harder by making me think I had to be non-binary because I liked pretty things :/
your interests, and strengths also don’t determine your gender.

Enter the Sphinx: abhortion: Ok another thing I don’t understand about otherkin is when...
Except you failed to understand something critical here. Transsexuality is not a tumblr identity. “Trans*” things like cross-dressing for social justice and fucking gender roles are identities, and also entirely separate from what you’re talking about, the in-congruency between birth-sex and brain-sex.
This is not some metaphysical concept here, this is neurological wiring and hormones. See, that’s the tangle you otherkins always get yourselves into, including those of you who claim to be *trans*, is trying to compare things that can’t be compared. You can’t have your cake-kin and eat it too, sorry.
If, like many otherkins, you believe being otherkin is a spirituality then you automatically lose the right to compare being an otherkin to being transsexual. Because one of these has nothing to do with a spiritual belief system (or contrary to what tumblr may lead you to believe, a shiny new weapon against the gender binary).
And if you don’t? There is scientific, biological basis for transsexualism and the fact that our primary and secondary sex characteristics do not always match our wiring (which manifests as a sense of gender). I can assure you with almost near possibility that there is no way your brain developed in such a way as to indicate you are a sphinx. If this is the field you wanna play, it’s the quickest way to getting yourself discredited.

Transgender is so interesting to me. Someone please tell me about the process.
What the fuck?
so if it’s lesbian transgender love, they’re talking about trans women, right?
…right?

Story time.
I know someone who frequently switches their preferred pronouns and their gender identity. They have gone from a girl, to genderqueer, to a trans man, to a genderfuck, to partially male but partially female, and the list continues. She told me that she asks everyone she meets about their preferred pronouns. Everyone. Even if they are presenting as a male, or as a female. She insists that it is rude not to ask.
if i was passing well and then someone i met asked my pronouns that would fuck up at least my day. i wouldn’t know they ask everyone, i would think i looked like a guy dressed like a girl. not polite.
